About

Aruba is an island unlike any other.

Famous for its white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and year-round sunshine, Aruba is often seen as the perfect tropical getaway. Each year, thousands of tourists visit the island, and many more have made it their home. But pristine beaches and delicious food aside, there’s much more to this island than meets the eye.

From its past to its present, Aruba has always been shaped by movement, exchange, and resilience. With roots in Indigenous culture, shaped by colonization, migration, and cultural fusion, Aruba is layered and complex.

This blog was created by locals who are not just enamored with the island, but who want to help deepen the connection between visitors and the people who live here. Beyond the resorts and sunsets, you’ll find rich cultural traditions, a multilingual and multicultural community, and some of the most unique ecosystems in the Caribbean.

From local perspectives, history, nature, and the everyday life that makes Aruba truly one of a kind – this is our way of sharing the stories that often go untold.
